March Matness Day 30 -Control Balance

Hi everyone! Welcome to March Matness Day 30, and we've reached the penultimate day of our Pilates journey. Today, we'll be doing an exercise called "Control Balance," but as I'm currently unable to perform the full version due to limited shoulder mobility, I'll be demonstrating a modified variation using a chair.

Exercise Description:

  1. Sit on the chair with your back straight and your legs extended in front of you at a 45-degree angle.

  2. Roll back slightly, engaging your core and maintaining a strong, stable position.

  3. Reach your arms up towards the ceiling and over one leg while simultaneously lowering the opposite leg towards the floor.

  4. Switch sides and repeat the movement, extending the opposite hip as you lower the other leg.

  5. Continue alternating sides while maintaining control and balance throughout the exercise.

Modified Control Balance:

As I mentioned, this modified version uses a chair to provide support and allows me to work on the control and balance of the exercise while accommodating my shoulder limitations.

Benefits:

  • Control Balance is an advanced Pilates exercise that challenges core strength, balance, and coordination.

  • It targets the abdominal muscles, hip flexors, and stabilizing muscles throughout the body.

  • The full version requires significant shoulder mobility and strength, but the modified version still offers valuable benefits.

Congratulations on completing Day 30 and mastering the Control Balance exercise! Even with modifications, we can still benefit from the Pilates method and work towards improving our strength and stability.

Tomorrow is our final day, Day 31 of March Madness 2023. Thank you all for joining me on this Pilates journey throughout the month. I hope you've enjoyed the exercises and learned more about the method created by Joseph Pilates.

As we conclude, remember to listen to your body, modify exercises as needed, and prioritize safety in your practice. I'll see you one last time tomorrow for our grand finale! Keep up the great work, and see you soon. Bye!
